And today I worked in the garden!

The weather is mimicking my emotional state – or perhaps I am mimicking the weather. Probably so. It has been in the 70s, sunny and warm these last two weeks. Then the wind came in – and bitter cold. Then the storm on Monday night. The Ski Valley got 15 inches and we got about 6″ here. Wild high desert weather. Untamed and intense. Highly fluctuating!
This move has really been a bigger deal than I had expected on so many levels. Here we are. In a “new” house. An old house – mud plastered walls, straw too. Lots of wood, latilla ceiling. Very Taos. Very New Mexico. Much character. Soul – Falko says. It’s small and rustic. Very much so.
Sometimes I love this home. Sometimes it feels overwhelming. I am someone who wants everything to be perfect, immediately. And there is work to be done here. Not just the unpacking, but small projects as well. I would like to keep a list of all that we do – instead of a “to do” list. So far:
- made one flower bed with rocks on southside of home, planted bachelor buttons, cosmos and poppies.
- Falko sanded the kitchen counter and sealed it! (Looks incredible!)
- Made a small flower bed with rocks next to front porch/patio. Need to put some more soil and plant it.
- Lots of unpacking…..put more books away today!
Yesterday I took a break from “the move” and went skiing! Much needed. My last day of the year. Super fun.
And this is my daily visitor! He comes every morning…. sits on our tree, or on the windowsill and peers in. Now I wait for him!

He’s beautiful. And what a lovely contrast.
Thanks!
Beautiful pictures and a handsome visitor. I’m sure with patience and time your new home will perfectly reflect you. It sounds like it’s full of character. Hope we get to see more…
Thank you Diane! Very kind – I hope so too!!
Oh! And I wish you would write more! How is your son doing in school now? It is an interesting life you lead there in Italy!
I’m so excited to see more photos of your new home. It looks gorgeous there. Did your flowers survive that snow?
I will take more photos today! The flowers haven’t sprouted yet, but I think so! Tons of moisture!!
Your visitor is beautiful! So glad to hear you are focusing on what you have done, and that you are pausing to wait for your daily visitor. <3
Thanks Sarah-Anne! Loved your last blog post so much. Feed the children first!
He’s gorgeous…
Must say you do sound slightly uncomfortable in your new abode, I hope you begin to love it very soon. Hope your seeds survived.
Take care
Jude
I hope so too! It’s coming along…it is a change for sure. Thank you!
