A magical day….
by GrowingFlowers
It’s hard to describe the warmth of the sun flooding the living room. The snow-covered everything. The joy, the pure happiness to spend a day together. It’s been too busy around here and Christmas morning was beyond perfect. Quiet and slow. (Until we realized we were due at Joan and Barry’s home for a traditional and amazing dinner in an hour! We scrambled and made our dish and made it there. Almost on time…)
The gifts from the girls were so thoughtful. We were deeply moved. I kept tearing up at how perfect everything felt. We had coffee, bagels with lox, cream cheese and onion. Cookies. More coffee.
Dinner at Joan’s was phenomenal. Our family away from family. We have been spending all of our Holidays together for years, they have generously invited us to each and every family event. Now their family feels like our family. Cousins for the girls. They’ve grown up together. And the tradition is lovely. (And the spiked egg nog! Oh my gosh.)
When we are lucky enough to have our own family here for Christmas, they, too, are invited. We are deeply grateful.
I’m sad and happy that it is over. Our tree is still here, still up and being lovely. Gifts are still trickling in. Our schedules are still different. I’m glad the “busy”ness is over, but miss the magic. Pure magic in Taos on Christmas.

There is something about snow that is peaceful. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Charmaine
